Zindagi Trust's team visited Balochistan's flood affected areas for the relief work on July 11, 2007. Dr. Shafique and Mr Salman Javed headed the project. Team members were Mr. Naeem Noor Mohammad, Mr. Asad Maqbool, Ms. Ambreen Shafique, Ms. Quratulain Butt, Mr. Usman Iqbal and Mr. Navaid Khan. The team made its base at Jinnah Naval Base (JNB), Ormara. PNS KALMAT took the relief goods from Karachi to Ormara.
The relief goods reached Jinnah Naval Base on 12 th July 2007 at 12.15pm. The relief team received the goods from PNS KALMAT and stocked them at the warehouse at JNB.
The relief team was then divided into two groups, one headed towards Gawadar covering Ormara, Pasni and nearby villages-almost 650 Km from Karachi and the other group went to Turbat and its surrounding villages, almost 800km from Karachi. The team spent the full day for survey work to identify the affected areas and held one on one interview with the affected community.
On July 14, 2007, the team distributed all the relief goods in the identified affected areas. Each family got a pack containing rice, pulses, flour, sugar, salt, tea, milk, mineral water, oil and medicines. The goods were distributed in Kodaije, Durawal, Somari Dandu, Bazwaja, Makaske Dak, Sardasht Kolanje, Basol, Kahoor Dan, Shadi Goth, Makola, and Surbandar and catered approximately five thousand (5000) people in the affected areas. |
