Board of Trustees, Zindagi Trust in their last
Board meeting had taken a decision to merge one
of the I am Paid to Learn (IMPTL) Schools with
SMB as a pilot project. After working out all
the modalities, a group of 53 boys and girls of
class 1 to 5 have joined SMB Fatima Jinnah School
as of 23 April 2009.
In view of obvious difficulties of a vast difference
of literacy between IMPTL students and the students
of SMB Fatima Jinnah, thanks to Bookgroup (Academic
Partner), a comprehensive preparatory session
of three months has been planned which will continue
during the summer vacations and prepare PTL children
to be able to sit with the main stream children.
We consider this an important milestone in the
evolution of Zindagi Trust. The girls (18) out
of the total class of 53 will now be able to continue
their education till Matriculation with us. This
would not have been possible with out the un flinching
support of Bookgroup who have gone out of their
way to tailor this merger and have employed dedicated
tutors to help these children to prepare to join
the main stream when the session starts in August.
Meeting these children in the new environment
and witness the excitement, jubilation and hope
writ on their faces was an experience that cannot
be described.
