VOLUNTEERS VISIT ZINDAGI TRUST SCHOOLS

On June 16’ 2006, a trip was especially arranged for the volunteers working at Zindagi Trust to meet the children enrolled in one the various schools across Pakistan. A group of four volunteers including Abu Talib, Ahad, Abdul Qadir and Shanim- all students of A-levels at St.Micheals Convent High School were taken to visit Zindagi Trust’s Manzoor Colony Campus accompanied by Mr. Mazin Patel-Students Body Co-ordinator. The kids spent a good three hours with the students of Zindagi asking them several questions, some related to their studies, others about their family structure, working lives and experiences. All the volunteers shared the same thought that the visit for them was an eye opening and heart touching experience. They realized the things that they so often take for granted are what these people never have had and may be never get a chance to have in their lives. One of them said that what Zindagi Trust is doing for them is going to remain with these kids for the rest of their lives and they will always keep Zindagi in their prayers. The gift that Zindagi is giving them cannot be matched with any material thing. They were excited to see the daily stipend being distributed to each and every student and their expressions illuminating with joy at receiving it. During the entire visit, the kids recited poems to our volunteers, entertained them by showing off their skills at counting, making sentences, reading books and conversing with them both in English as well as Urdu. The visit ended with the volunteers pledging to donate as much of their time as possible for the cause Zindagi Trust is working for.
