The students at SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School enjoyed an Eid Milan party on the 12th of November 2011, to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with their classmates. The teachers and school administration believe that co-curricular activities that make the children happy also re-energize them for their studies, so a celebration was called for students from Class 1 to Class 10 alike. The students came dressed in their colourful Eid clothes and the teachers were also seen participating enthusiastically. The students really enjoyed getting a chance to attend a party where they could socialize with their classmates and teachers alike.
To make the Eid celebration even more fun for the students, a lucky draw was organized in cooperation with Shield. The students enjoyed the process of entering their names in for a competition, getting coupons and checking if they had won. The winners of the lucky draw were given a variety of prizes. A big thank you to Shield for sponsoring the gifts!
Eid-ul-Adha events were also held in all the “I am Paid to Learn” Zindagi Trust Schools of the Rawalpindi region from the 10th to the 14th of November 2011. The purpose was to educate the students about the significance of the festival of sacrifice as well as to give the underprivileged children a chance to celebrate it.
The schools’ teachers gave talks about the history of Eid-ul-Adha, remembering Ibrahim’s great spirit of sacrifice. All the students came dressed in cheery colourful dresses and brought meals to share with each other. The event was educational as well as an enjoyable celebration and it was encouraging to see a sense of communal cheer among the student body built of young children who spend most of their days working in auto-repair shops etc.
