ZT USA fundraisers 2013 at six different venues in the USA
Date: 12/4/2013

Like last year and the years before, Zindagi Trust USA held fundraisers in April of this year at six different venues in the USA that included Washington DC, San Diego CA, Memphis TN, Houston TX, Milwaukee WI, and Chicago IL. Spreading over two weekends, the tour started with Washington DC on April 12th and culminated in Chicago on April 21st.

Zindagi Trust (ZT) held a Dinner/Music Fundraiser in DC area on 12th of April, 2013.  Guests attended the event showing their support and enjoying the evening festivities.  They were made aware of the work ZT was doing to bring quality education to the less privileged children of Pakistan.  Clips from the Chal Parha documentary were shown to show how little changes bring about major law revisions.  ZT USA was able to raise money to go towards reforming public schools, educating working children, and lobbying the government to improve education policies.  Dinner was followed by excellent performances by Shehzad Roy and comedian Ali Hassan.

San Diego had their Zindagi Trust (ZT) Dinner/Music Fundraiser on 13th April.  The event was held at the Qualcomm Hall where several hundred guests enjoyed a fabulous evening of fundraising, food, and entertainment.  ZT USA organizes this annual gala to raise awareness of its cause to reform public schools, to educate working children, and to lobby the government to improve education policies.  Attendees were treated to mouth watering delicacies, lively musical performance from Shehzad Roy, and comedy by Comedy Central’s ‘Axis of Evil’ comedian Aron Kader.

On 14th of April a new town was filled by supporters of Zindagi Trust (ZT) USA.  ZT held its first ever Dinner/Music Fundraiser in Germantown, TN and were welcomed with open arms.  The guests partook of the festivities of the evening.  Guests enjoyed delicious food and for their listening pleasure they were entertained by none other than Shehzad Roy.  The fundraiser brought in an impressive amount that would go towards reforming public schools, educating the working children, and lobbying the government to improve education policies.

We last visited the city of Houston in 2011 for a full event, and just like the previous year, this year’s event, held on April 19th, was just as successful.  The crowd gathered with great fervor and donated with their heart’s content.  Their generous donations would surely fulfill Zindagi Trust’s objectives of educating the working children, and public school reform.  As expected the night’s entertainment was provided by Shehzad Roy and his band.  What more can one ask.

The Milwaukee April 20th event was the only private/invite only event during the Fundraising tour.  The event was held to increase awareness in the community about the work ZT has done.  The response was overwhelming so much so that the hosting committee and the local community are looking at the possibility of setting up a chapter and doing a bigger event in the coming year, and ZT and Shehzad Roy are eager to come back, to the hospitality and generosity that was given to them by the local community.

The Chicago Chapter of Zindagi Trust USA held its annual fundraising gala on Sunday April 21, 2013.  It was truly a well attended and successful event.   Pop Singer Shehzad Roy wasn’t the only artist of the night. Comedian Ali Hassan from Toronto also performed and made the audience laugh.  Honorable Council General of Pakistan Zaheer Pervaiz Khan was in attendance as well. Shehzad Roy vowed the audience with his speech and presentation of Chal Parha.  He left an impression on the audience that will bring them back for future events.

The Chicago Chapter is now turning to its youth to help grow the awareness of this beautiful cause.  Not only are they looking to add more members, but they are looking to add younger members.  Zindagi Trust hopes that this will motivate the youth in other areas as well.
